Nutcracker Christmas Stairway Silhouettes

It's Christmastime in our home!!!
At Michaels Craft store recently all of their Halloween crafts were about 80% off.
I picked up one of Martha Stewart Crafts' Silhouette for just under $2.00!

....Wouldn't this would be perfect Christmas decoration if I added a few of my own black paper cutouts that could include other Nutcracker characters? I thought so too!

So all I did was draw a tiny sword for one rat, a full sized nutcracker, and little girl with the nutcracker doll in pencil on black (actually chalkboard paper) and cut it out :) I didn't trace it, but it probably would have been better if I did. I love drawing so it wasn't time consuming or difficult, it was just a fun little craft.
 Here are the results!

 The DIY Wifey,

Tate is 9 months old!

It's been a wirlwind of an experience...these last few months!
I'm thankful to say that we have survived it and we are happier than ever!
We feel so blessed that God's trusted us with raising this sweet little man.

Latest loves:
1. airplane & turbulence game!
AKA: flying around the house with Daddy :)

2. Tickles with his Momma

3. His Auntie Megan who can without fail always make him laugh.

4. BRUNO, our black lab beast :) If I can't get the fussy train to stop, he can!

5. boxes, remotes, empty waterbottles, (CORDS-- to my constant panic and horrible hiding abilities) tupperware, and pretty much anything that isn't a toy!

6. Tate is growing everyday, and as of three weeks ago, he's started WALKING!!!

If you're wondering...the above little lady is our Goddaughter, and his betrothed. :)
well, maybe not, but she is our Goddaughter! :)

He's chomping an apple!

^Momma and son  :)

Daddy and son :)

So very proud that he got that rolling apple!

My wonderful family!

He's a fast learner, and I think we've got an adventurer on our hands!
Watch out Indiana Jones!! :-)

The DIY Wifey,

Pintrest Cleaning tricks- yay or nay?

Anyone else get hooked onto pintrest at just the wrong, right time? :)

All you need is 1/4 cup of baking soda and just enough water to make a runny paste.
Leave it for 30 minutes.
wipe off.

As you can see, I obviously didn't make the paste thick enough the first time.

So I did it again. Here's what it looked like:

The above picture is what the second batch like on the second try.
And below is the after :)
It's not perfect, but it's a lot cleaner!
It could use at least 1-2 more coats of the baking soda (especially around the outside of the window), but that's for another day!
I'd say, give it a try!

What pintrest cleaning tricks have worked for you?

 The DIY Wifey,

Tate's 2 month Pictures

The first photo is Tate, only 8 days young. :) Precious little child of God.

This is Tate yesterday :)
His new favorite thing to do is smile, say "ahh-goooo" and make what Mason calls "dinosaur calls to his mommy" :)

The load: Mason and I are balancing the baby related work really well. Mason recently switched companies, so he no longer travels (yippeee!!) and I am now a stay at home mom, taking only 3 more night classes until I graduate with my BA in Psychology.
The feeding: Tate is eating well, still using the shield, but every once in a while I can get him to nurse cleanly, so to speak. :) Every 2-3 hours during the day and 4 hrs at night.
The sleeping: Tate is sleeping well -- Tate is only getting up a few times a night now, typically at midnight and at 3:30am....then again at the reasonable hour of 6am or so :) I've been told this is pretty good for an exclusively breastfed baby. We're proud! We have bed shared up until now out of convenience for breast feeding. We've put him in the bassinet several times but he doesn't sleep as long there.
Thoughts on Being Parents: We can't believe how fast time is flying by!!! We are loving all the time we are getting to spend with our son.  We don't see all the facial changes so much until we look at pictures... it's amazing. God is amazing. In Mason's words: Parenting is nothing that you can plan for.  It is about being able to think fast and calmly while being confident.  It is a joy at the end of the day (or in the middle depending) knowing that we can make our baby happy and smile. Being a parent is fun and hard at the same time, and the rewards of seeing him grow and change are immeasurable.
